ErP label

THE ERP DIRECTIVE FOR

HEAT PUMPS

As of 26 September 2015, the energy efficiency of space and combination heaters must be labelled throughout the EU. In comparison with fossil-fuelled heating systems, the benefits of heat pumps are immediately visible. Heat pumps consistently achieve green ratings (A+ or better).

The Energy Labelling Directive relates to units with a nominal output of up to 70 kW. What is crucial here is that a single annual energy consumption figure does not work on labels, unlike say on a washer-dryer or refrigerator. The consumption of a heater always depends on the building in which it is installed, which is why classification is based on the ‘seasonal space heating energy efficiency’.

THE ERP DIRECTIVE FOR

ROOM AIR CONDITIONING UNITS

The Implementing Regulation (EU) 206/2012 entered into force on 1 January 2013. It implements the requirements of the ErP Directive 2009/125/EC for room air conditioning units with a cooling capacity of up to 12 kW. In terms of energy labelling, the efficiency grade scale was extended above A to include A+, A++ and A+++.

It is evident why air conditioning units also fall within the ErP Directive: air conditioning technology is now firmly rooted in everyday life – in cars, offices and within our own four walls. Technical developments in recent years have already brought about significant progress in this field. At Mitsubishi Electric, it is essential that we also make a significant contribution to ensuring greater energy efficiency.
